Original acrylic painting on box canvas. 20 x 8 inches and approx 1.5 inches depth (50cm x 20cm x 3.5cm). Framing not required, since the landscape subject is continued around the edges. This is a small, impressionistic style painting, using evening light in the countryside as the main theme. There are many occasions when the land seems to glow with a soft gold during early evening, and in this scene it is pervading the hills and cropfields. On the field edges, small clumps of poppies and wild flowers are gathered, emphasised gently with thicker paint.
The sky has been painted with several glazes of gold-yellow and transparent red, giving a delicate veiled effect.
